Love a nonprofit? Share the news!

Love2February is here (can you believe it?), and many of us are already looking ahead to the 14th, better known as Valentine’s Day. It’s the day when we show the people we care about just how we feel. And this Valentine’s Day, as in previous years, we want to let nonprofits across the country know just how much we appreciate what they do. But this year, we say: why wait?

If you’re reading this blog, then my guess is that you already know the power and poetry of the nonprofit sector. Let’s come together to spread that message this month across social media!

Snap a photo or use an existing image and post it to your Twitter, Instagram, and/or Tumblr accounts. Make sure to include the hashtag #NONPROFITLUV and mention us (@GuideStarUSA). We’ll be on the lookout for images you share and will shout-out as many as we can when we share them on our own social media channels!

Don’t know what kind of image to share? Here are some ideas:

  • A photo of the people you support through volunteering
  • A photo of the halls, walls, or people at your nonprofit
  • An image or logo that represents a nonprofit you care about
  • An image that you associate with social good or making the world better place

Happy sharing, and happy Valentine’s Day! We look forward to connecting with you on social media this month and all year long : Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Flickr, SlideShare, and Philanthropedia’s Blog.

  1. Hello, I am a supporter of “Cheerful Givers”. This is a non-profiit organization that help children living in proverty have a great birthday! Imagine a child less fortunate than us who cannot enjoy a birthday and his parent cannot afford to buy him a gift. Cheerful Givers help assemble gift bags for parents to give to their children on their birthday! You can support Cheerful Givers by holding a group of people who are interested in helping a family celebrate a child’s birthday and they can assumble toys and place them in a bag. This can be done at your school, church or organization. You can also donate $10 to Cheerful Givers to help gather toys to put in a bag to give to a parent so they can give it to their child on their birthday! For more, please go to
