2009 GuideStar Exchange Giveaway

Earning $1,000 for your organization may be easier than you think. Just obtain the GuideStar Exchange seal for your organization, then enter the 2009 GuideStar Exchange Giveaway.

In January 2010, GuideStar will give five gifts of $1,000 each to five nonprofits drawn at random. To qualify for the drawing, organizations must hold the GuideStar Exchange seal and complete an entry form.

The GuideStar Exchange and the GuideStar Exchange Seal

Getting the GuideStar Exchange seal is easy—just complete all of the asterisked fields (both single and double asterisks) in the GuideStar Exchange Form and click "Send to GuideStar" on the "Review Changes" tab.

Entering the 2009 GuideStar Exchange Giveaway

There are two ways to enter your organization in the giveaway:

  • Online: Complete the entry form at http://guidestar.vovici.net/wsb.dll/s/1g3405b. All fields are required.
  • By mail: Print your organization's full name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), address, telephone number, e-mail address, the name of the person authorized to register for the GuideStar Exchange Giveaway, and a statement that you have read and agree to the rules for the giveaway on a 3-inch by 5-inch index card. Mail the card to GuideStar USA, Inc., Attn: Dan Moore, 4801 Courthouse Street, Suite 220, Williamsburg, VA 23188.

Note: Only one (1) entry per organization. Entries must be submitted between November 23 and December 31, 2009. Each entry mustagree to the rules for this giveaway, either by completing item 6 in the online form or by stating affirmatively on a mail-in entry that the organization representative has read and agrees to be bound by the rules. Entries that do not explicitly agree to the giveaway rules will be invalid.

Other Benefits of Holding the GuideStar Exchange Seal

Only five nonprofits will win $1,000 in the giveaway, but we believe that every organization that holds the GuideStar Exchange seal is a winner. Your donors and funders will be impressed with your transparency, and your organization will receive a free subscription to GuideStar Premium, a $1,000 value.

Obtaining the GuideStar Exchange seal will also make your organization more visible to donors who don't know about you. Every day, nearly 22,000 people come to GuideStar to learn more about nonprofits. Thousands more give to charity through our many partner sites. As Heather Mansfield, community manager at Change.org, notes: "[Online] fundraising is built upon GuideStar. Change.org, Network for Good, and Facebook Causes (just to name a few) are pulling your organization's information from GuideStar."

As donors and grantmakers gear up for the giving season, make sure that the impact you're creating in your community is at the top of their minds. Complete the GuideStar Exchange Form to show them the difference you're making.

Thank you for partnering with GuideStar to create a marketplace where good works are rewarded.
