Most people visit GuideStar to search our Nonprofit Profiles. Together, our users search the database 1.1 million times a month. The database search is a vital part of the user experience.
Our current search was state of the art when we launched it 10 years ago. Although we’ve tweaked and refined it, it’s showing its age. And it can’t hold a candle to searches on sites such as Google, Kayak, and Amazon.
That’s why we’ve spent the last year rebuilding the GuideStar search. We’ve tested and revised it internally, and now we’re ready to test it in the real world.
Take Our New Search for a Test Drive
We invite all of our users to try out our new search. You can link to it from our home page, advanced search page, and current search results page. Or you can follow this link directly to the new search: Test the new GuideStar search.
Click “Next” in the “Meet the new GuideStar search” box to take a quick tour. If the box doesn’t display for you, click the “Help” link on the lower right of the page to access it.
We’d love to get your feedback on how the new search works for you. Click the "Tell us what you think!" link at the bottom of the search results page, or head over to the GuideStar Community to give us your feedback.
What We Hope You’ll Find (Pun Unintended)
- It’s faster.
- The results are more relevant.
- The results page is cleaner and easier to use.
- Instead of entering advanced search criteria before searching, you can filter your results in real time.
- You can select multiple items within a filter, instead of only one.
Please give the new search a try and let us know what you think. The more people who test it now, the better it will work when we officially launch it this summer. Thanks in advance for helping us improve the GuideStar user experience.
