I’m thrilled to announce that GuideStar’s newest tool—GuideStar Local Nonprofit Directory—is now available. By combining our powerful search functionality with in-depth information from our Nonprofit Profiles, we developed a community-based nonprofit directory that could be tailored to any region and hosted on any website.
The inspiration behind this product was simple: we wanted to help communities learn about the nonprofits living in their own backyards.
To accomplish this, we went straight to the source. We gathered hours of feedback from community foundation staff, as well as donors, who all voiced a similar desire: the need for a search and directory capability that didn't interrupt community foundations' everyday tasks and wouldn't incur significant costs.
After months of designing and testing, we felt confident that GuideStar Local was the solution. Not only did we want to provide local insights to the community but we also wnted to encourage informed giving decisions by:
- Giving donors the most up-to-date information available on nonprofits in their areas.
- Supplementing local expertise with data on nonprofits’ programs, financial health, leadership, compensation, and board and staff diversity.
- Offering multiple search filters to compare nonprofits by cause area, size, and more.
No Manual Updating Needed
We built GuideStar Local to keep things easy—all search capabilities, updates, and routine maintenance will be performed behind the scenes from www.guidestar.org. For example, when a nonprofit updates its GuideStar Nonprofit Profile, this new information will transfer effortlessly to GuideStar Local and be readily available.
