Here at GuideStar, one question is frequently on our minds: “What do our users CARE about? What causes are they most passionately supporting?” Instead of guessing and getting it wrong, we decided to ask them directly. We conducted a brief survey in August to see what issues keep our users up at night. While GuideStar remains committed to serving ALL nonprofits, we’re excited to see a real trend in the results – responses that will inform the time spent on programming services, asking for expert reviews, and developing new resources on the causes you care about most.

We were also excited to learn more about how our visitors use our site:
- To research a nonprofit for personal or professional donations
- To research the nonprofit sector for trends / benchmarking
- To access resources – tip sheets, newsletter articles, webinars
- To promote my nonprofit to attract new funders
We love providing these services at no charge, and we believe that this public service is a core part of our mission as a nonprofit. To continue to offer comprehensive, trustworthy nonprofit information to 98 percent of our users for free, however, we rely on contributions and membership support from our biggest fans.
