As the largest source of information on nonprofit organizations, and a nonprofit ourselves, Guidestar is committed to helping in these efforts -- ensuring that nonprofits’ information is readily available, and that donors have the information they need to make informed giving decisions.
GuideStar Helps Nonprofits Tell Their Story
There are 2.4 million nonprofits in our database, each with a profile on Guidestar.org. In addition to the information drawn from the IRS Form 990, a growing number of nonprofits are directly updating their GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Page with information on their programs, results, governance, finances, and more. To date, more than 45,000 nonprofits dedicated to telling their stories transparently have achieved a Bronze, Silver, or Gold level profile status. And with the launch of our new GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Pages, the information is being conveyed in far more compelling and visual ways.
GuideStar Assists Nonprofits Reach Broad and Diverse Audiences
Guidestar.org has nearly 7 million unique visitors each year. More than 99% of whom are accessing the information for free. And, thanks to GuideStar’s network of more than 170 data distribution partners, nonprofits information is accessible by millions more. With these partners, which include donation portals, the leading donor advised funds, and community foundations, a nonprofit’s story is being shared with new, and diverse, audiences.
GuideStar is devoted to supporting innovation, transparency and effectiveness within the sector. We want the data, the sector, and the world to be better – more effective, efficient, and impactful, and we continue to work toward that. Changes in our Nonprofit Profiles, expansion of collected information, and new and expanded ways of sharing information are making GuideStar a dynamic, revolutionary tool for transforming the sector.
Yet, we are not doing this alone. GuideStar has strong partnerships with other leading organizations to advance the sector. And we have strong partners among our many longstanding funders, donors, and customers.
Thank you for your commitment to and investment in the nonprofit sector and GuideStar. Working together, we can – and will – create a better world.
