Expand Your Organization's Reach and Get GuideStar Premium for FREE

The giving season is fast approaching. More and more donors are going on-line to research their giving decisions. Put your organization's best foot forward by updating your report on GuideStar. To thank you for taking the time to update, we'll give your organization one free seat of GuideStar Premium, a $1,000 value.

Any organization in our database can update its report by completing the GuideStar Information Form (GIF). There's no charge for filling out the GIF, and updating can pay off in many ways.

Benefits of Updating

  • Free seat of GuideStar Premium. GuideStar Premium makes short work of researching funders, benchmarking your organization, finding compensation data, and more. Your organization will have access to one free seat of GuideStar Premium as long as your report on GuideStar is current.

  • Free on-line donation capability. If your organization is a 501(c)(3) public charity, your listing on GuideStar includes a "Donate Now" button. Make it easy for your supporters to give to you: link directly from your Web site to your listing. Donors don't even have to register with us or log in to make contributions through our site.

We launched our on-line donation function last December. Between December 6, 2007, and January 1, 2008, some 1,491 users gave $244,616 through GuideStar. We expect both numbers to increase this year.

  • Expanded presence on other philanthropy sites. GuideStar data fuels many on-line giving sites, including, Network for Good, and those for the Fidelity, Schwab, and T. Rowe Price donor-advised funds. The information you provide in the GIF appears on these sites as well as on GuideStar.

  • Increased exposure on GuideStar. Last year, GuideStar's users visited our site 10.8 million times. Many were donors and funders seeking information about nonprofits they were thinking of supporting. When you complete the GIF, you help your organization stand out from the crowd, increasing the chances of catching a donor or funder's eye.

"We recently received an unsolicited donation of $50,000 from people who had not previously supported our organization. When we met to thank them, they cited our commitment to transparency as one of the primary motivators behind their gift. They greatly appreciated being able to review our audited financials and tax returns, which influenced them far more than our polished marketing pieces. The first thing we did after our meeting was set an automatic reminder to update our GuideStar Report at the end of each year!"
