Each year, The James Irvine Foundation Leadership Awards recognize extraordinary leaders who demonstrate what makes California great. They display both a commitment and a record of success in improving people’s lives, creating opportunity, and contributing to a better California.
We spotlight exemplary individuals and their work with the goal of advancing solutions to critical state issues that merit expansion, replication, or policy support.
We have been impressed by past recipients’ accomplishments–and grateful to hear the award strengthened their efforts to expand their work. These leaders’ organizations receive a $200,000 grant and additional assistance to help them reach policymakers and other decision makers in their fields.
But we also know that for every impressive leader we recognize, there are others who also deserve consideration. And so, we turn to our colleagues to ask: Will you help by nominating an innovative Californian for the 2017 James Irvine Leadership Award?
If you know of a great leader who is making a significant difference in the lives of Californians, we would love to hear more. To learn more about the program and how to nominate, please click here. The deadline for submissions is April 29, 2016.
The preceding is a guest post by Andre Oliver, who was appointed senior program officer at The James Irvine Foundation in September 2014. He manages the Foundation's Leadership Awards program and serves as a grant maker on initiatives focused on explanding economic and political opportunity in California.
